Energy and environmental technology from Franconia for the USA
Joint symposium of the CCI and the 'Metro Chamber Atlanta'
For the 10th anniversary of the twinning of Nuremberg and Atlanta, a delegation from the city of Nuremberg and the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry travelled to the Georgian metropolis. In doing so the CCI particularly wanted to push cooperation in energy technology and environmental protection.
A plenary event which the CCI ran together with the 'Metro Chamber Atlanta' was designed to serve to identify and implement future activities in a project-related manner (e.g. symposiums and participation in trade fairs).
USA is still the most important market
Although exports to the USA sank by three percent in 2007 to 16.4 billion euros – especially because of
the weak dollar – with a 10.6 percent proportion of total exports, the United States remained the most
important buyer country worldwide for products from Bavarian companies.
The same goes for Central Franconian business. Measured in terms of business contacts (export and/or import connections), the United States of America belongs to the top ten international partners, with 742 business connections. Of the most important countries for local businesses to invest in (branches, manufacturing facilities, joint ventures) the USA has occupied 1st place for several years with 318 firm commitments.
The same counts vice versa for American investment in the economic region of Nuremberg. With 84 companies located here, the United States are in 1st place with a big lead over Switzerland (34) and France (33).
