Vocational Education and Training
The state has transferred the responsibility for on-the-job training and assessment over to the Chambers.
By the end of 2007, more than 9000 new vocational training contracts in CCI professions were finalised. Once again that's more than 850 enrollments or 10.5 percent more than in the previous year. This peak result involves almost all commercial and technical skilled professions and clearly shows the reaction of companies to the looming shortage of skilled workers in the region.
In Central Franconian companies there are altogether more than 22,209 young people in vocational training in a total of 4,782 companies offering vocational training. These numbers prove that the companies do more than justice to their responsibilities in the system of dual vocational training.
Among the most important tasks of the CCI in terms of vocational training, are the following:
- Companies offering vocational training:
The CCI assesses the suitability of the more than 5,000 companies offering vocational training and ensures the quality of the vocational training with around 1,500 workplace visits every year. The CCI advises companies offering vocational training and training supervisors about teaching aids, training methods and vocational training legislation.
- Training relationships:
The CCI keeps a catalogue of the, at present, approximately 21,000 training relationships.
- Training supervisor qualification and further training:
The CCI conducts 900 training supervisor qualification tests every year and provides further training for training supervisors and examiners.
- Scholarship system:
The CCI supports exceptionally talented apprentices.
The CCI conducts 16,000 intermediate and final examinations annually and supervises 700 examination boards with 5,000 voluntary examiners.
